Oktoberfest Polka Band for Greenville and Columbia, SC
Appalachian Freunde Polka Band is a German polka trio from Asheville, NC. South Carolina festivals, breweries and churches book us each fall, and several of them have booked us more than once.

Where we have played in South Carolina:
- Oktoberfest Columbia, Columbia: 2024, 2025 and 2026. In 2025 and 2026 we played all three days, Friday to Sunday.
- Steel Hands Brewing, Cayce: October 2024, October 2025 and September 2026
- FireForge Crafted Beer, Greenville: September 2025 and September 2026
- Grace Episcopal Church, Camden: September 2025 and September 2026
- Scots & Brats, Clinton: November 2024
Can the band play a multi-day festival?
Yes. Oktoberfest Columbia is our longest booking. In 2026 we played from Friday, October 9, to Sunday, October 11, with two blocks of music each day. On the Friday we played from 1 to 5 PM and from 6 to 10 PM. In 2025 we played the same three-day run, from Friday, October 10, to Sunday, October 12. In 2024, our first year, we played the Friday and the Sunday.
What else books us in South Carolina?
Breweries. Steel Hands Brewing in Cayce books us for Friday evenings, and FireForge Crafted Beer in Greenville books us for Sunday afternoons. See how we run a taproom show on our brewery Oktoberfest page.
Churches. Grace Episcopal Church in Camden booked us on a Sunday in September 2025 and again in 2026. Read more on our church Oktoberfest page.
Town festivals. Scots & Brats in Clinton booked us in November 2024.
What do you get with a three-piece band?
We are three players: Diane Fields on keys and vocals, Mike Fields on drums and sound, and Adam Bennett on clarinet, sax and vocals. All three of us play every show. Our sets mix polkas, waltzes, sing-alongs and American rock. Each hour has at least 45 minutes of music and a 15-minute break. Every show has the Chicken Dance, and Günther von Cluckenstein, our 8-foot inflatable chicken, joins some shows. Meet him on our Chicken Dance page.
What does the venue need?
We bring our own sound system, and Mike runs it. We add lighting when the event needs it. We need two outlets on one 20-amp circuit. We arrive about 2 hours before the start to load in, and load-out takes about 45 minutes. Three players fit a festival tent, a taproom corner or a stage. For an outdoor festival, plan a covered or indoor backup spot in case of rain.
How does booking work?
- Send your request. Give us the date, the city and the type of event.
- Get a quote and a contract. We send both to you.
- Hold your date. Return the signed contract and the deposit within 7 days. We confirm the date when both arrive.
Our guide to booking an Oktoberfest band lists what to ask. Our booking FAQ covers the details.
How do I check open dates?
Open weekends show on our calendar. We play Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and our peak season runs August to October. For a festival, send us every day you need in one request.
